The great mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan’s birthday was celebrated at Ruby Park Public School on 22.12.2022 which is observed as National Mathematics Day. His contribution in the field of mathematics had been countless and has contributed enough to broaden the horizon of mathematics as a subject, ranging from important illustration of Goldbach’s conjecture, work on divergent series and unresolved Fermat Theorem to calculation of Euler’s constant. In remembrance and reverence, students of Ruby Park Public School participated in various tasks involving mathematics. Students of classes I-V solved worksheets on mathematics that comprised of questions of general reasoning while students of classes VI-VIII participated in an InterHouse Quiz competition that gave a much needed break from regular formal learning of mathematics and a thrilling experience. Students of Class XI engaged themselves in an Inter House Debate competition that turned into a somewhat erudite conversation where every opponent got a chance to refute and defend . In addition to the events, exhibits charts and models done by the students of Classes I-XI were displayed within school premises.
This event helped the students to realize the importance of mathematics in our daily life and its implementation everywhere and instilled in them increased awareness about the subject . “It is very important to grasp the basics of mathematics since most of the subjects under curriculum find its root in mathematics and the ever increasing Mathematics Anxiety need to be contained amongst students at a very early age. That is why conducting these events at school level is considered conducive” said by Joyita Majumder, Principal of Ruby Park Public School.
