In the words of Swami Vivekananda, “Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man.” We, at Ruby Park Public School, believe in the furtherance of knowledge. At the same time, we are aware that knowledge acquisition is a lifelong process which occurs within and outside the premises of a classroom. Thus, Ruby Park Public School aims at a ‘learner-centred’ approach rather than ‘teacher- centred’ learning, keeping the National Curriculum Framework(2005) in mind.
Ample scope is provided to the students to do practical based learning. Our academic calendar has been divided in such a manner that adequate stress has been given to both academics as well as co curricular activities so that students are provided with a platform to showcase their talents.
Last year, our students took part in various competitions like the Mathematics Olympiad, the Science Olympiad, the Hindi Humming Bird Olympiad. The students also participated in Inter school Events like ABHIVYAKTI organized by DPS, Ruby Park, Young Innovators Program organized by IIT Kharagpur and IT WIZ organized by TCS. We also participated in the All India Inter School Arithmetic Genius Contest and India International Science Festival, Guinness World Record Attempt for making the largest human image of Human Chromosome.
Co-curricular activities play an important part in the daily learning of a child. The Pre-primary section of Ruby Park Public School organized a number of fun- learning activities for the students like Bengali New Year, RHYMES WEEK, EARTH DAY ACTIVITIES, YOGA WEEK, NO FIRE COOKING ACTIVITIES, KITE MAKING AND FLYING ACTIVITY. The school also celebrated English literary Week, Intra Class Math Sudoku Competition, Conserve My Planet- Earth Day- Planting of saplings around the school boundary, Premchand Jayanti Celebration, Hindi Diwas Celebration (VI-VIII), Intra Class Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition on Non-Violence, National Youth Day Program, IT Fest – Computer Quiz in collaboration with NIIT (IV -VIII), Intra Class Poster Making Competition on Cultural Diversities and so on.
To make students aware of the important festivals and days celebrated in the country, we at Ruby Park Public School organize Special Assemblies. The students through their performance in dance, music and drama bring out the significance of these important days. Some such special assemblies organized in the school during this session were: Rabindranath Jayanti, Van Mahotsav Assembly, International Mother Language Day, Guru Nanak Jayanti Assembly
Physical fitness of the students lead to a healthy mind andvalue based learning. There are various physical activities in the school. We have trained and experienced teachers for Yoga, Karate, Chess, Swimming and Table Tennis. A Physical Education teacher has also been appointed for enabling the students to learn and play various outdoor games.
The school has proper and detailed guidelines for framing the syllabus for the academic session. We also have a well-planned assessment schedule for the student, which gives them ample time to prepare for their examination. The examination schedule for Classes II to IV is planned in such a manner that the young students do not feel burdened. The school has a team of well-trained and experienced teachers to help and guide the students to get the best teaching- learning outcomes. Our academic curriculum is based on four evaluations ( pre mid-term, mid-term, post mid-term and annual examination).
With technology playing an important role in the academic development of the students, the school too encourages the teachers to use Smart Classes while teaching the students. The use of I-pad Lab in our school is another step towards advancement and innovation in the field of education.
Ruby Park Public School believes in the optimum utilization and preservation of natural resources. We at Ruby Park therefore take adequate measures to save energy and use energy efficient electrical equipment. Partnering with Schneider, a renowned company, in the program, ‘CONSERVE MY PLANET’ helped us in our initiative of saving energy.
The increasing level of pollution is a matter of grave concern. We at Ruby Park are actively engaged in promoting awareness amongst children and parents on environmental conservation and cleanliness. We undertake a number of measures such as rainwater harvesting and segregation of waste at source to help conserve the planet. Highlighting the importance of recycling organic waste and proper disposal of waste including electronic waste is an integral part of our endeavour.
Other steps taken by us include planting of trees outside the boundary walls of the school as well as placing potted plants inside the school premises. We maintain a complete ‘Tobacco free zone’ and ‘plastic free zone’ as a constant effort to conserve our planet. A healthy environment is the key to a healthy mind and body.
