India’s Independence is a subject of hefty conversations and speculations. 15th August of 1947 marks the end of British rule, declaring India free and independent. India’s freedom fighters fought a long and hard struggle for the country’s independence. India celebrates its 75th Independence Day on August 15th, 2021, across the country amidst the pandemic. The Government of India has taken the initiative to celebrate and commemorate 75th Independence Day by organizing a digital event known as “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”.
With schools shut due to pandemic, celebrations have shifted online. At Ruby Park Public School, for instance, the patriotism found a digital expression. The Chief guest of the event was Mr. Goutam Mohan Chakraborty , who was given a huge welcome by our respected teachers.The Chief Guest and our respected Principal, Mrs. Joyeeta Majumder, gave a speech which reminded us of the struggle and sacrifices our freedom fighters made to give us this Independence of Life. The grand celebration began with the hoisting of the National Flag by our chief guest, Mr. Goutam Mohan Chakraborty and our respected Principal, Mrs. Joyeeta Majumder accompanied by a few teachers with the National anthem played in the background on Independence Day, at the school premises by following all Covid-19 protocols. The programme started with an opening song ” MereDesh Ki Dharti”.Channelising the creativity of the students through an online programme- the students of classes 2 to 10 have participated and made the event glorious. The students of Bharat scouts and guides squad gave beautiful speech commemorating the freedom fighters, followed by an instrumental performance on the famous song”Vandemataram”. A mime show was put up by the students. Lastly they concluded it by singing “Sare Jahan Se Acha”. Another instrumental performance was given by our students on the song”Ebar Tor Mora Gange”.The programme also included dance ,singing and aerobics performance of the students. The event was filled by the aura of patriotism.
To quote the words of our Principal, Mrs. Joyeeta Majumder,”the celebration of our 75th Independence Day at Ruby Park Public School was an event to cherish as we gathered in a small number on the school grounds. It filled our hearts with a sense of pride and patriotism as the National Flag was hoisted and we sand the National Anthem in unison. The celebration was a rewarding experience in every sense.”
