Students of Classes 3-4 of Ruby Park Public School undertook an enriching educational excursion to the Kolkata Police Museum, situated on Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy Road, near Sealdah on 4th November, 2026. The visit was thoughtfully organised to acquaint the young learners with the historical evolution of Kolkata’s policing system and its indispensable role in safeguarding the city’s legacy, law and order.
Housed in the erstwhile residence of the eminent social reformer Raja Rammohan Roy, the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the city’s colonial past and its journey through the annals of history. The students explored an intriguing collection of archival photographs, historical documents, police memorabilia and exhibits chronicling the evolution of the Calcutta Police from its formative years to the present day. A particularly captivating section illuminated the contributions of the police during India’s freedom struggle, alongside invaluable archival records relating to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
The excursion offered the young explorers a compelling confluence of history, civic awareness and experiential learning. This intellectually stimulating expedition undoubtedly enriched their understanding of the city’s heritage while instilling a deeper appreciation of the dedication, vigilance and service that underpin the institution of policing.
