Students of Class V from Ruby Park Public School recently embarked on an educational visit to the newly opened Museum of Word (Shabdalok), situated within the historic Belvedere House inside the National Library Campus, Alipore. The excursion was curated to introduce the young learners to the vast history, evolution and cultural significance of language beyond traditional textbook boundaries.
As India’s first immersive language museum, the facility features nine interactive galleries. The students began their tour at the central entrance hall, which houses a monumental pillar engraved with the 22 constitutionally recognised languages of India. Guided by museum curators, the children explored various sensory and multimedia installations that trace human communication from basic sounds to modern scripts.
This memorable expedition will undoubtedly leave an indelible imprint on the academic pursuits of these blooming visionaries.
